Lysine-functionalized layered double hydroxides for the antibiotics’ efficient removal: Controllable fabrication via BBD model and removing mechanism

Lysine-functionalized layered double hydroxides (LDHs) controllable fabrication based on Box-Behnken Design (BBD) model was investigated in this study. Ly @ FeZn presented stable and efficient removal performance for Ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal. Characterizations analysis batch tests results showed that had significantly different adsorption towards CIP Ofloxacin (OFL). The highest capacity of 193.83 mg/g, while OFL 62.12 mg/g due to the bulky structure OFL, which posed steric hindrance its interaction with adsorbent. Furthermore, kinetics were better simulated pseudo-first-order kinetic model, described by pseudo-second-order. thermodynamics indicated processes exothermal, feasible spontaneous. It worth noting mechanism synergistic reaction surface complexation interlayer adsorption. Also, study provided a promising adsorbent antibiotics practical water remediation.
